Worship and Music
about worship
In our worship we celebrate Jesus Christ and His message, which is shown in who he is and what he has done. Through the Bible, music, prayers, readings, communion, and baptisms, our worship emphasizes remembering his life, death, and resurrection for our salvation, his victory over evil, and sacrifice of self-giving love. We respond to this good news in praise, adoration, and love in word and song.
About Music
Worship services are led by the pastors, a worship leader (usually the Director of Worship and Music), chief musician (piano and organ), worship band (vocalists and instrumentalists), and on occasion, a choir. All these groups are always looking to grow! For more information on how you can get involved, contact our Director of Worship and Music Elizabeth Kapitaniuk (ekapitaniuk@firstpresaurora.org).
Specific Ways to Get Involved
Worship Band
This ensemble includes a wide range of ages and experience levels. If you play an instrumaent, are learning an instrument, or feel comfortable leading singing, talk to Elizabeth (our Worship and Music Director) about ways you can participate. Students who sing or play instruments are strongly encouraged to participate, whether occasionally or regularly. It is a great opportunity to serve as well as develop the skills and talents God has given you. All instruments are welcomed!
Seasonal Choir
Our Choir expands our worship ensemble during special church seasons such as Advent, Holy Week, and Pentecost. Rehearsal schedule concentrates around those seasons.
Chamber Vocal Ensemble
For those who feel comfortable sight reading music and singing in one-on-a-part vocal ensembles, this group helps provide special music during the year. Rehearsals coincide with Worship Band.
Camera
Each week we live-stream our services for individuals to watch at home via our YouTube channel and Website. A camera person is required for worship and for occasional special events, meetings, weddings, and funerals. Training is provided.
Multimedia
Our Multimedia Team runs the slides for each worship service. Slides are provided by our Multimedia Director each week. If you can click a mouse, you can run multimedia! This team is great way to get High School students involved in our service. Training is provided.
Sound
Our Sound team requires more knowledge of sound systems. They coordinate the sound system each Sunday to keep our sound, both in the sanctuary and online, running smoothly.
Greeters
If you enjoy people, smiling and saying hello, greeting ministry could be for you! Greeters proved that crucial "first-encounter" for people as they enter the church. This is a great place to volunteer with your whole family!
Ushers
If you love hospitality, consider being an usher. Ushers provide a warm smile, assist people to their seats, collect the offering, and maintain a welcoming worship environment.
